Whales, birds, deer

Kestrel

We've not been up to too much since we got back but we do get over to the coast most weekends to spot the whales. Yesterday we were watching the usual dolphins and the Humpback variety of whale jumping about when a huge light-coloured beast surfaced just offshore. Unbelievably it was a Blue Whale! Remarkable!

Native to Java, Bali and Timor the Rusa is a deer introduced to Australia back in the day. I'd never seen one before but apparently there are a few of them down in the Royal NP.

Wedding twitch

Of course, in between wedding obligations you have to get out looking to expand your bird list. I managed to get up to The Remarkables ski field one day right on sunset and, despite the freezing cold, was rewarded with a flock of Chukor Partridge #68 for New Zealand. Tick!

Married!

Well it's been a bit of a while since I last updated the blog so what's been happening? Not a lot actually. Except the wedding of course! It's been a couple of months since the big day over in Arrowtown and here are just a couple of the 500-odd photos that the photographer subjected us to.
