Bits and 1000 pieces

Saturday before last, Jarrod and Adelle got married. They're now enjoying a luxury honeymoon in the Red Centre in a tent. The wedding was excellent but unfortunately I didn't take my camera along. But before you all get too upset, I've stolen one of Allan's pictures which clearly shows the best part of the whole show. That would be Jarrod and Adelle parading round the church with their crowns on.

Nice crowns

The footie continues with mixed fortunes. Tuesday nights are going well and last week both my men's and mixed teams played in our respective grand finals. The mixed team won 4-2 to take out the trophy and at the same time inflict our opposition with their first ever defeat. The men's final was a tighter affair as we scored a last second equaliser before going on to win by a golden goal. Good times.

More plasticware for the cabinet

Last Saturday I decided to have a quiet day in and rest up a bit although things took a sinister turn when I turned my attention to the jigsaw puzzle which had just been started on my coffee table. A marathon puzzling session began and 15 hours later at about 4am the last piece of river fell into place. Ridiculous.

I say again, ridiculous!

Mount Tomah

Mount Tomah botanic gardens

Took the car up to the Blue Mountains last weekend and stayed at Emily's parents' place which is always a relaxing thing to do. On Sunday we visited Mount Tomah botanic gardens on the Bell's Line of Road. Located at 1000 m above sea level they reckon its the cold climate part of Sydney's Royal botanic gardens. There is no doubt that its a bit cooler than down in the city but you wouldn't really describe the overall impression as "cold".

Bower

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly seeing a displaying Satin Bowerbird at his bower with all the blue things that he had collected strewn around the display area. He put in some nice moves and managed to entice a female into the bower but a shocking display of dilly dallying and general faffing about cost him dear and after a while the female got fed up waiting and left. Foolishly I had left my camera in the car so didn't get any pictures. By the time I got back the male was reflecting on what might have been and I managed one blurry shot before he, too, disappeared.

If you snooze, you lose!
