Easter camping

Grasshopper

We managed to get out for a spot of camping over the Easter weekend which made for a bit of a change. Sneaky Pete was back on leave from Mauritania and so Emily and I joined him and Christine in the Capertee Valley. The public holiday meant things were pretty busy but the area is quite large and so we managed to get a decent spot to ourselves and the kangaroos still turned up each evening despite the partying bogans.

It was interesting to find some Blue Heliotrope Beetles which were released in the area in 2003 as a biological control against the South American Blue Heliotrope weed. Studies apparently show that their diet is very specific to the introduced plant but they seem to be doing very well thankyou and we all know how well creatures can adapt to a new environment. Just look at those Cane Toads!
