
Last weekend I braved the heatwave and headed out to Bicentennial Park in search of the crakes and rails. They'd been showing well for the last couple of weeks at a particularly smelly swamp in the park so Jarrod, Adelle and I got on our bikes again for a bit of a cycle.

It took a wee while staking out the appropriate patch of mud but pretty soon we got fantastic views of these normally very elusive birds. The skulking

Lewin's Rail #387. Too good.
