Capertee camping

The vast Capertee Valley

I'm back! I do have a pretty good excuse for the silence this time though as I've been moving house. After a couple of weeks of lifting and cleaning I can thoroughly recommend that noone should contemplate moving house unless its absolutely necessary. Its possibly the most rubbish thing that ever has to be undertaken. Miracles do happen though and I got my full bond back and I'm now pretty much set up in the new place which is a small two bedroom terrace with a very nice back yard and air conditioning for the summer! - pictures to follow soon I hope. Now I just have to get used to living with another person (Emily is here too) and a cat.

Driving in

After all that hassle I finally managed to get away at the weekend for the first time in ages for a spot of camping in the Capertee Valley on the far side of the Blue Mountains. Its always very nice over there with the guys and once again it didn't disappoint. No new birds for the list but the Turquoise Parrots showed up again which are pretty rare and pretty pretty. There was also a Wombat blundering about in one of the paddocks.

Can you see the wombat by the tree? No....?

.... there he goes

Although it was down to freezing point at night, the days are beginning to warm up a bit and hopefully spring is on the way.

Cold morning

Couldn't agree more with moving being an extremely painful experience, yet another reason why we dont want to move to another country.

I looked it up and it is actually panadol that will kill a cat not aspirin. Still it is a horrible lingering death so it might just be better to bludgeon it to death while Emily is not around an then throw it in the gutter on the footpath just before she gets home that way it will look like it was run over.
