Wedding in Taupo

At the weekend we popped over to New Zealand for Emily's cousin's wedding which was held in Taupo in the middle of the North Island. Despite the grey and rainy weather it was a nice weekend away and I even managed to add three more ticks to my New Zealand bird list. It should have been four but I missed the pair of turkeys that Emily spotted in a field just outside of Auckland. The low cloud blocked out any views of the volcanoes in the region but the steaming ground and sulfurous smell was something new.

On the way back I had my first taste of the Airbus A380 and being an Emirates A380 it was pretty good. The camera looking forward from the top of the tail was especially fun!

Good to see you did not get murdered. Taupo must be improving since I was last there.
